The fire got so big the volunteers had to call for help. Within a half hour, four other volunteer fire crews had arriced to put out this fire in their small town. As the heat got more intense, the firemen backed off and were sadly watching the fire jump to another building, threatening to burn up most of their small town.
Suddenly they all heard a funny sound and when they looked up the street they saw an old fire truck rushing toward the fire. Instead of stopping with the other fire trucks, the truck drove forward until it almost hit the burning building. An older gentleman rushed toward the fireman when the fire was out and asked for the driver of the fire truck that came last. When the driver appeared, the gentleman said,"Our town was in danger and your bravery motivated everyone. Driving that truck into the fire was the most awesome thing I have ever seen. Here is a $500 reward for your bravery."
A newspaper reporter was listening and yelled to the driver of the firetruck, "Hey, what are you going to do with the 500 bucks?" The driver had a funny smile and said, "The first thing I'm going to do is buy new brakes for that truck."
