Staff Development Days

Phil is a favorite among staff days.   So many of staff members hate the thought of staff days and yet so often teachers will comment this was the most meaningful and enjoyable staff day they have attended in years or ever.

"Phil we just received the evaluations for the staff day and it was an overwhelming success.   Last year 25% of the staff found the development day worthwhile.   This year 90% of them rated the day as outstanding.   That is an amazing turn around. Thank you."
- Mark Corti,   Principal, California HS, San Ramon, CA

Three options for staff development

Keynote: Consider Phil as a opening presenter for your staff meeting.   He can present an hour of inspiration to kick off the semester or the school year.   His words will inspire the secretaries as well as the P.E. teachers.   Be sure to invite the custodians as his message reaches all of the adults who are reaching out to the young people walking the halls of your campus and is about inspiration and motivation to reach students in a meaningful way.

Half-day Workshop:   Phil has developed this workshop to address teambuilding, effective teaching methods, and strategies to engage students in their own learning as well as several other areas in education.

Full-day Workshop:   So many teachers walk the halls in their own school and hardly recognize some other staff members.   If the school plan is that several teachers will work together each semester to teach each child - shouldn't it make sense those teacher should know each other and have time to talk and consider what works best to reach each student.   Phil's staff workshop has been built on years of experience working with schools who say, "We need to learn to work together but we have so many teachers that are not into the touchy feely experience."   This presentation works.   Staff will walk out with a vision of collaborating with other staff members and feeling supported in their own role on campus.

Phil spent fifteen years developing the three-day training for teachers around Link Crew and WEB.   In those years he trained over 3000 teachers and worked with amazing associates that were all brilliant teachers and administrators. These associates were constantly working with Phil to improve those trainings to help reach teachers in meaningful ways.   These fifteen years have allowed Phil to create and shape workshops that are powerful and inclusive.   What many teachers like best is the "we can use this tomorrow" material Phil presents.   As the co-author of "Ten Minute Lesson Plans", a book of ideas to build the anticipatory set, Phil is tuned into getting students attention.

"Phil we were really nervous going into the day with our staff.   You were the first outside speaker we had in seven years and we weren't sure how our staff would respond.   Well, it worked.   We have been able to ride the wave of that day for months.   We are implementing strategies well ahead of our original schedule."
- Travis Haire, Asst Principal, New Albany, Indiana
