Student Body President's Workshop - 20th Annual

Leadership training for newly elected student officers

May 16-17, 2010 - San Ramon Marriott, San Ramon, California

Begins at 2:00 pm the first day
Ends at 3:00 pm on the second day

A Two day, One night Conference to Provide Powerful Leadership Information!

"I received my moneys worth the first night with all the information my students received!"

Since 1989, Phil Boyte has hosted the Student Body President’s Workshop presenting perhaps the most detailed leadership training for ASB leaders in California.

This conference is a powerful opportunity for the key leaders in your program to receive great training while networking with other outstanding leaders their age. We usually have 200+ students who are preparing to take a new role as ASB President, Vice President, Junior and Senior class presidents. Most schools bring 6 students, including an additional student or two who will play important leadership roles on campus.

Our goal is to use this spring event to prepare your new leaders for the year ahead. We spend time in general sessions, small group workshops, and networking sessions to build understanding and leadership skills.

Curriculum Covered

  • Creating a Powerful Vision
  • Building a Successful Team
  • Planning Projects Well
  • Learning to Delegate to Others
  • Offering Meaningful Feedback
  • Holding Leaders Accountable
  • Recruiting Great Leaders

Because we have students from so many different schools we use several opportunities for them to network. Our intent is for these students to know each other well enough when the conference is over they will stay in contact with each other during the coming school year and use each other as resources as they lead their own school.

In 2008, Phil added three new presenters to his profile of speakers. His own three children now join him to present the conference. All three of them were involved in leadership all four years of high school and each served as ASB President their senior year. Today all three serve in a leadership role in corporate positions following their university experience. Cody, 24, is director of marketing for a web design company in Irvine. Shyana, 23, is assistant director of Human Relations for a medical firm in Raleigh, NC. Shaun, 21, after graduating film school, works for a commercial production firm in San Diego. Their combination of high school and corporate leadership roles bring a current and relevant look at leadership.

Conference Details

This conference will begin at 2:00 pm on the first day and will end at 3:00 pm on the second day.   Your registration fee includes shared lodging for one night, all materials and a luncheon on the second day.   You may reserve your space now and send the names of the students after your elections. Due to deadlines on hotel reservations, cancellations must be received, in writing, ten working days in advance.   No refund is available if notice of cancellation is received with the ten-day window.   There will be a $35 processing fee for all cancellations.

We have the option of students having their own bed. The cost for this will be an additional $30 per student. We normally put four students to a room with two queen beds, but with the additional money students can have their own bed. If you would like this to happen for your students, please fill out the appropriate box on the Registration Form and send the additional money. The money must be received in our office at least 10 days before the conference, or students will not get their own bed.

To register, click the registration button at this top of this page then print off the form and either fax it or mail it in to sign up your students.
